INDUSTRY: WORKSHOP ACCESSORIES

A business system change can be quite demanding for an international company, but maybe there is a silver lining? Silvent leveraged Gung to simplify its salespeople's administrative work and increase everyone’s focus on new business.

“The solution Gung presented was simple and easy to use—without compromising on functionality.”

— Ulf Persson, Business Development Director at Silvent

Silvent is a Swedish company that manufactures workshop accessories—primarily ones that use compressed air, such as air knives, blow guns, and nozzles. All research and development takes place at the company’s headquarters in Borås. Today, Silvent’s products are sold, via distributors and their own sales offices, to customers in more than 95 countries.

Easy to Implement; Easy to Use

When faced with growing pains, Silvent decided it needed e-commerce. The company landed with Gung, based on its simplicity for users; the short implementation time; and the close connection it had to their ERP system, Jeeves.

Ulf Persson, Business Development Director at Silvent, said that the company’s primary goal was to simplify the administrative work of the sales team.

“We could have chosen our ERP system's standard solution, but it had limitations,” said Persson. “We wouldn’t have reached our goal of deploying the solution on time and training our entire sales team across six countries. We have many salespeople in different locations around the world, and we wanted them to quickly get up and running in the new business system.”

Persson added that the solution Gung presented was simple and easy to use—without compromising on functionality, such as trading between their internal companies.

Partner in Gung-Ho Growth

During the summer of 2017, Silvent was acquired by the listed investment company Lifco AB, which increased the pace of expansion. In 2018, it started operations in Benelux and, in the summer of 2019, the sales staff of the new company in Spain had placed their first orders. Gung remains the only interface for order processing, and more than 100,000 orders have already passed through the system.

"In the next phase, we will review the possibility of connecting our global distributors in Gung," said Ulf. "With Gung, we get a product to grow with, while at the same time, it gives us the advantage of quickly training new employees. At our pace of expansion with global control of inventory and distribution, it is very important for us to have systems and a partner that supports this growth. With our investment in Gung, we have ensured our continued journey into new markets."
