Four game-changing functions in Gung’s product export interface
Does this sound familiar?
You need to provide a customer with product information. In order to do so, a sales rep performs a search in your ERP system, and gets back a massive and complex Excel sheet that not only needs to be edited, but also combined with images and data from other systems and places. The rep is then forced to do another round of editing in order to personalize the information to the customer that requested it. And worst of all? When another customer calls next week for product info, your rep will have to start from scratch all over again.
This article focuses on how Gung’s product export interface can digitalize this scenario—and many others like it—inside your business, making tasks like gathering product information or producing product catalogs achievable in minutes. Below you can review four key functions in Gung’s product export interface. You will learn about what problems each function solves, and how each function is set up within Gung.
PRODUCT CATALOG
Gung allows you to create dynamic catalogs—meaning that you can select exactly which products you want to include. You can use free text searches, filter functions, or even previous orders to select products. The catalog is then created and downloaded easily in the Gung interface.
HOW: Gung’s product export function has a number of templates that you can use as a starting point. During your implementation, you can decide whether or not you want to use the standard product catalog design out of the box, or build your own with more custom branding. You can also have different designs for different stakeholders—for example, one type of catalog for your employees, and another for your customers. Gung’s product catalog templates typically showcase images of the product, pricing, product descriptions, and other attributes. All the data used in the catalog is pulled directly from Gung’s PIM module (which is deeply integrated with your ERP system).
PROPOSAL
Today, many industrial companies without good e-commerce solutions like Gung spend a great deal of time cutting and pasting imges and text into Excel or Word proposal templates. Creating a quote that must be unique to the customer takes time and often appears unprofessional. Gung’s product export function allows you to build custom, professional proposals in minutes—always with the most up-to-date product information.
HOW: Just like your customers, your sellers can have a custom interface to your web shop, where they select items, administer prices, and connect them to a customer. With the push of a button, the customer then receives a sleek, branded PDF, proposing all the products of interest accompanied by images, descriptions, and any additional information needed to make a decision. The proposal can be printed or emailed to the customer and then converted to an order later.
LIST EXPORT
Especially when working with retailers, there are countless times when you need to export product information that can be used on their respective web shops or marketing materials. Not only is retrieving information often done manually and transferred via email—but there are also often challenges with selecting the right data (not ALL the data), and sending it over in the format requested by your retailer. Gung’s product export function allows you to use templates to control different list formats. Customers who request product data such as article number, name, price, colors, sizes, recommended retail price, EAN codes, image links, or statistical numbers on their particular products are always available for download with the click of a button.
HOW: Lists can be accessed for export in the order history area of Gung, where there are ready-made lists for the customer to download—including product information for the unique order. Customers can also go directly to the product export interface, where they can make a selection of products, and then download the file directly. Gung can be configured to automatically know which fields from the Gung PIM should be included in exports, as well as in which formats.
IMAGE BANK
In today’s digital world of B2B sales, images are critical. Whether it be for employees, retailers, or end customers, Gung delivers a space where anyone can go to download branded, marketing-approved, high-resolution photos in a variety of formats. In the product export interface, there is plenty of storage for a large image bank, as well as quick and easy ways to search for and find the right image.
HOW: Once your photos are uploaded in your Gung PIM, they can be made available in an image bank, as well as across all channels they are used—including your web store. If an image is updated in one place, it is updated everywhere. All you have to do is name the image with an article number, and upload.
